ABOUT MELouise Peters is a young Melbourne based composer with an interest in creating different musical textures with rhythmic intensity, within a unique harmonic framework. She has worked with internationally renowned artists including Frauke Albert and Gisbert Watty (2015), the Sonic. Art Quartet (2016), Scapegoat (2017) and Line Upon Line (2018). Louise will be featured in this year’s Future Creatives Festival as a returning artist.
Louise is an established performer within her community, playing within several musical ensembles across Victoria including Moonee Valley Brass and the Monash Wind Symphony on Euphonium. Her fondness of chamber music comes from her childhood experiences learning music through small jazz ensembles and irish folk groups as well the larger symphonic bands, concert bands, big bands and various choirs. She enjoys the intimate and exposed nature of chamber music, and tries to convey a distinct sense of groove and connectedness throughout her music. Louise is currently studying composition at the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music at Monash University in Victoria, Australia. During her time at university she has studied under Stefan Hakenberg and prominent Australian composers Mary Finsterer and David Chisholm. Her latest piece 'Catch Me' was premiered this September by Line Upon Line at the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music (BIFEM) and won the 2018 Monash Composition Prize. |
